Beewolf

There is a frightening creature

hovering outside the sliding door.

She lowers her long, yellow legs

and shifts between invisible

pockets of air. You can hear her

wings through the unwashed glass.



Her genus—philanthus—means

flower lover, though she is a predator

who feasts on stinging things.
